The SASTRA educational experience differs depending on which department students are pursuing a degree in.Because SASTRA has so many different Department, if you really do your research, you can choose a programme.
Admissions to all programmes are strictly based on merit. For B. Tech. programmes 70% of the total seats are filled by SASTRA,for which applications are called for in leading dailies and through SASTRA website.The remaining 30% of the seats are filled by MHRD based on the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) ranks.
For all PG programmes the admissions are made on the basis of the scores in the qualifying UG / PG degree programme. GATE qualified students are given preference. For all other UG arts & science programmes, admissions are based on the qualifying examination marks.
The university has been recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India. It is ranked among top private engineering colleges in the country .Its 'School Of Chemical and Biotechnology' is ranked 1st among all private institutions in the country, and 2nd (overall) in India.
The entire campus is networked with a 1 GB fibre-optic cable and is Wi-Fi enabled to provide wireless access to the 32 Mbps internet leased line for the students and faculty.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES
The college host the a inter-college national-level Technical Festival Daksh and also the inter-college cultural Kuruksastra.
The University has various clubs, stretching from environmental ones to technical ones. The club GLOSS is sponsored by Sun Microsystems, while the club "Icon" deals with soft skills. The "iClub", provides seminars and interactive sessions on popular subjects. There are clubs like The Electronics Club of SASTRA (TECS) and Robotics Club of SASTRA (RCS) to encourage the students, to develop technical skill.
The amount of diversity at SASTRA is admirable, with almost 60 percent of the student body coming from another state.
Many colleges talk about being the best, but SASTRA University really does deliver an education on par with some of the best colleges in the country.
